Association Client Projects

European Society for Dermatological Research
We continue to work with ESDR on their strategic direction and the work we have done is transforming the association and many of the members allowing them to contribute to something greater. We led the creation of a consortium focused on skin science, called The Skin Science Foundation. Four priorities emerged: Articulate a greater purpose that touches the hearts of those individuals who do have a collaborative mind-set and can unite the different cultures and organizations that we needed to involve to achieve it. We developed this purpose with the foundation’s trustees in a workshop and then validated it with the founding partners. Develop a sustainable proposition that was sufficiently interesting for the founding partners to invest in. We developed a business model based that described how the foundation would generate value sustainably. The founding partners wanted to see a roadmap with annual milestones, which described how we would create a sustainable business model over time, eventually weaning the foundation off their funding. We identified two underlying principles: Ownership of the foundation is shared by everyone who contributes to the foundation. We agreed one of the key deliverables in the first year of operations is a legal framework that protects existing and future IP. Refinement: this states that the foundation is an experiment. We develop a hypothesis, test it and refine it, constantly. The business model and roadmap are dynamic, constantly-evolving, living assets rather than documents that sit on the shelf gathering dust. Work with world-class people who have a Collaborative & Creative mind-set and are passionate about realizing the Purpose. This includes the people the foundation hires and the partners it collaborates with. In a project of this nature, there are so many moving parts which can malfunction in the world outside that mind-set is key.
